Overview

Women entrepreneurship continues to take an upward trend and Africa leads the world in terms of the number of women business owners.Succinctly delineated by Ms. Thokozile Ruzvidzo – “Women’s entrepreneurship is recognized as the biggest yet underutilized opportunity for sustained economic growth and social development” – (Former Director – United Nations Economic Commission for Africa).

Roland Berger’s Women in Africa Entrepreneurship Study (2018) noted that female entrepreneurs contributed between US$250 billion and US$300 billion to African economic growth in 2016, equivalent to about 13% of the continent’s GDP

According to McKinsey, the female economy is the world’s largest emerging market with the potential to add US$12 trillion to global GDP by 2025.

However, despite the glaring prospects, women entrepreneurs continue to face unique hurdles that threaten their peak success on this journey.

In this webinar, we will explore the current state and future outlook (economic, social & digital) of women entrepreneurship in Africa, highlighting the significant progress made while acknowledging the challenges they face on all fronts.

At the end of this webinar, we hope to accelerate stakeholder actions with strategies for advancing women’s entrepreneurship in Africa and leveraging digital technologies to drive inclusive economic growth.
